Mission
The Michigan Helicopter Association (MHA) exists to bring together people who share an interest in helicopters—including private, commercial, police, and EMS operations—to enjoy fellowship, learn from one another, and celebrate the role of rotorcraft and heliports in Michigan aviation.
History
Founded in 1974 by pilots dedicated to promoting safe helicopter operations, the MHA has grown into a statewide community of nearly 100 rotorcraft enthusiasts. We advocate for helicopter safety, share the latest FAA updates, and maintain a member-only library of approved off-airport “Permission to Land” sites across Michigan.
Membership
Anyone who supports helicopter safety and access is welcome to join—no pilot license or aircraft ownership required. Members receive event invitations, regulatory updates, an MHA patch, and access to our exclusive landing library.
Each spring, members gather for our annual banquet to connect, celebrate, and shape the year ahead for Michigan’s helicopter community.
